We are a leading private international school in Ghana committed to providing a high-quality learning environment for our students. As part of our mission to ensure a well-balanced and nutritious meal program, we are seeking a skilled and creative Pastry Chef to join our kitchen team.
Job Summary
The Pastry Chef will be responsible for preparing and baking high-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods for students and staff. The ideal candidate should have experience in creating a variety of pastries, ensuring food safety standards, and maintaining a well-organized kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and bake a variety of pastries, bread, cakes, and desserts for the school’s meal program
Develop nutritious and child-friendly pastry recipes in line with school dietary guidelines
Work closely with the kitchen team to coordinate meal preparation and service times
Ensure allergy and dietary restrictions are taken into consideration when preparing food
Train and mentor kitchen assistants in baking techniques and pastry preparation
Keep up to date with new baking trends and introduce creative ideas for the school menu
Assist in planning and preparing special school events, celebrations, and catering needs
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food regulations
Requirements:
A diploma or certification in pastry arts, culinary arts, or baking
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a pastry chef or baker
Strong knowledge of baking techniques, food safety, and kitchen management
Ability to create nutritious and appealing baked goods for children
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Ability to work collaboratively with a team
Strong attention to detail, creativity, and passion for baking
Preferred Skills & Attributes:
Experience working in a school, café, or catering service
Ability to multitask and work under pressure
Strong understanding of hygiene and kitchen safety protocols
