Job Summary

The Accounts Clerk will support the finance department in managing day-to-day accounting tasks, maintaining financial records, and ensuring accuracy in financial transactions. The ideal candidate will have strong numerical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive attitude.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in processing payments, invoices, and receipts

  • Maintain accurate financial records and update ledgers

  • Prepare and reconcile bank statements

  • Assist in payroll processing and statutory deductions (SSNIT, PAYE, etc.)

  • Support budgeting and financial reporting activities

  • Handle petty cash and prepare financial summaries

  • Assist in auditing and compliance-related duties

  • Respond to financial inquiries from staff, parents, and suppliers

  • Ensure all financial transactions comply with school policies and accounting standards

Requirements:

  • A minimum of a Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Masters degree is a plus

  • At least 2 years of experience in an accounting or finance role (preferably in a school or educational institution)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Tally, Odoo)

  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial regulations

  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

  • High level of integrity and confidentiality

Preferred Skills & Qualities:

  • Experience working in an educational institution is an advantage

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
